Josefina Björk is a Swedish artist working at the intersection of visual and performing arts. Björk creates group dynamic situations where the audience actively participates through performance or film. The works are often based on contemporary dilemmas and consist of everyday social phenomena that gets twisted up by different methods and practices.The works can, for example, take the form of ephemeral memorials where the visitor's memories are interpreted in dance, an installation in the tension between intimate and embarrassing atmosphere that turns the gaze back to the visitor or a community art project where Björk goes back to her hometown to meet her old bullies and persuade them to create an EPA drag show with her for the city's annual festival: The Food Festival. Björk is represented by Konträr in Stockholm, Inkonst in Malmö and Skogen in Gothenburg and has made works for Gothenburg konsthall, Moderna Dansteatern and Röda Sten konsthall, among others. In addition to her artistic practice, Björk is involved in running the art center Ställbergs gruva in an old iron ore mine in Bergslagen, the performance workshop series: Back2work together with the performance company Poste Restante and is a guest teacher in performance at Valand Academy of fine arts, Gerlesborgsschool of fine arts and Konstfack, university of fine arts.
